The Fenrir hunt is a quest line built around Nomad, the boss slayer master. It gates a custom weapon set behind a vampyre grind, and gates Fenrir itself behind that weapon set.

You cannot fight Fenrir without completing it. This is not a soft recommendation, the boss physically cannot be damaged without the right gear equipped.

Nomad turns you away below 90 Slayer:

Fenrir is no hunt for the undertrained. Return when you've reached level 90 Slayer.

Step 1: kill 100 Apex vampyres

Any Apex vampyre counts, and there is a wide list of them, so a vampyre slayer task will make good progress on its own. Reach them with ::vyrewatches.

You get a progress message every 20 kills:

Fenrir hunt update: 40 Apex vampyres left before Nomad arms you for Fenrir.

At 100 kills:

Nomad is ready to arm you for the hunt. The vampyre swarm has been thinned enough to face Fenrir.

You need the Vampyre Slayer unlock from a slayer master before vampyre tasks are assigned. It costs 80 slayer points. See the Slayer guide.

Step 2: collect your set from Nomad

Return to Nomad, the boss slayer master, and claim the reward. He gives you two items:

Gold vamp sword
Gold vamp defender

This is a one-time reward. Claim it once and it is marked as claimed on your account.

Step 3: fight Fenrir

Both items must be equipped, the sword in your weapon slot and the defender in your shield slot. Fenrir checks this on every hit. Without them your attacks do nothing.

This is the single most common way people waste a trip: bringing the set in their inventory rather than wearing it.

The fight

Fenrir spawns three minions during the encounter, which appear around you rather than at a fixed point. Deal with them or they will chip you down while you focus the boss.

Fenrir is available through instance tokens, so you can fight it privately.

Reward: bloodwood sap

Killing Fenrir gives you this message:

Fenrir has fallen. The oldest pest is dead, and Nomad will now stock bloodwood sap for you.

That permanently unlocks the Bloodwood sap bucket in the Slayer Point Store. Until Fenrir is dead the item is hidden from the shop entirely, and buying it is blocked.

Bloodwood sap treats logs, converting normal log types into their sap-treated versions.

Summary

Reach 90 Slayer.
Buy the Vampyre Slayer unlock for 80 slayer points if you have not already.
Kill 100 Apex vampyres, easiest on a vampyre task.
Claim the Gold vamp sword and defender from Nomad.
Equip both and kill Fenrir.
Bloodwood sap unlocks in the Slayer Point Store.
