The battle pass runs in seasons. Each season has 56 tiers, and you climb them just by playing. There is nothing to buy and nothing to opt into, the pass tracks you automatically while a season is running.

How you earn XP

Battle pass XP comes from skill experience, at 1 battle pass XP per 1 skill XP. Every skill counts, combat and non-combat alike, with no weighting between them.

That means there is no optimal skill to train for the pass. Whatever gives you the most experience per hour also gives you the most battle pass progress. If you are already training something, you are already climbing.

XP only accrues while a season is active. Between seasons the pass pauses, and a new season starts everyone fresh.

The XP curve

The requirement per tier grows steadily, then doubles every ten levels. Early tiers go quickly and the last stretch is the bulk of the work.

Completing all 56 tiers takes 34,185,000 total experience across the season.

On the higher experience modes that is a single evening of training. On Zezima it is a real commitment. Check your rate before deciding whether to chase the last few tiers.

Worth planning around

Tier 3, 13, 19, 35 and 55 are coin rewards, totalling over 9,000,000 across the season.
Tier 8 and 25 give Research packages.
Clue geodes appear at tiers 10, 28, 43 and 52, for 50 medium geodes in total.
Rune stockpiles at tiers 12, 14, 15, 44, 45 and 46 cover a lot of blood, death and water runes.
Bulk supplies at tiers 5, 6, 41 and 49 keep you stocked for boss trips.

Claiming

Rewards are claimed from the battle pass interface once the tier is reached. Claim as you go rather than saving them up, since a season reset does not carry unclaimed tiers forward.

Seasons

Seasons are refreshed on a schedule set by staff. When a new one begins, levels and claims reset and the reward track is set again for that season. The interface shows the current season end date, so check there rather than assuming the previous one still applies.
